A fire alarm system is designed to detect smoke or fire in its vicinity. It will do its job irrespective of whether you are asleep, hearing impaired, or otherwise unable to detect smoke or a fire in your premises.More than 50 people across Australia die each year as a result of home fires. Many of these homes do not have a working smoke alarm.- Department of Fire & Emergency Services (DFES) – Government of Western Australia

Selecting the right type of fire alarm system and auxiliary device is critical in protecting life and providing the earliest warning of a fire. Fires develop in different ways and are often unpredictable. For maximum protection, we recommend that both ionisation and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help ensure earliest detection of the various types of fires that occur within the home.

In Australia, there are more accidental deaths due to house fires than bush fires. In addition to installing a quality fire alarm system, you can protect your family, employees and premises by following these simple rules:

  1. The Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authority Council (AFAC) recommends monthly testing of smoke alarms to ensure they are working correctly.
  2. Replace your smoke alarm battery every year, unless you have a smoke alarm with an inbuilt rechargeable battery.
  3. Keep emergency number (000) keyed into all phones in your home. Teach children, as early as possible, how to responsibly contact emergency services.
  4. Practice your fire escape plan regularly and have a quick, safe exit planned.
